

The much-anticipated Comedy Club: Live in Kampala is here and set to air on M-Net East on DStv in January 2012. The popular show has previously been filmed in Lagos and Mombasa and is now set to showcase world-class talent in Uganda. Comedy Club: Live in Kampala is an M-Net Africa production that profiles comedians, and offers them a wider television platform to demonstrate their talent as stand-up comedians.
Comedy Club: Live in Kampala invited comedians to Kampala from Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda to come show their skill throughout the 13 episodes of the series. The show, hosted by popular Ugandan talent Gaetano Kagwa of Big Brother fame, provides an hour of entertainment for the live venue audience as well as the viewer at home. After the comedians perform, they’re invited to sit down for an interview with Gaetano. DStv audiences can also look forward to a live band performance by Magic Hornz to entertain the audience.
Two comedians will perform during each episode - the first is usually an up-and-coming comedian while the other is a well-known, established comedian. Look out for performances by Ugandan comedians Bright Amanya, Deo Ojambo, Cotilda, St. Freak, Anne Kansiime, Tindi, Conan, Bob Nuwagira, Sam Okello, Daniel Omara, Patrick Idringi, Kiziito Makanga, Alex Muhangi, Mendo Herbert Segujja, Emmanuel Sebakaje, Prince Ehmah and Pablo Kimuli. Upcoming shows will also feature British comedian Kevin J; JB, John Kibet, Sande Bush, Othol Othuol and Maurice Ochieng (Kenya); Bob Nkosha from Zambia; Herve Kimenyi from Rwanda and Tanzanian Evans Bukuku. Also featured are Daniel Omara, Patrick Idringi, Alex Muhangi and Pablo Kimuli, comedians who participated in M-Net comedy series Stand Up Uganda.

12 Mar: Episode 11
Mic check: It's Prince Emah and Tindi's turn to make Kampala laugh.
Prince Emmah
Prince took up drama from an early age. He did his first ever stage play when he was still in high school. He later enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Uganda. This is where he became popularly known as the funny guy. He joined a comedy group, The FIlosofaz’. Their comedy cut across religions and age groups. The comedy group is still going strong and holding shows every semester.
After university, Prince joined ‘The Crackers' (Mic Check) Comedy Club,’ performing every Wednesday night at Theatre Labonita in Kampala. His early stage performances were so good that he was soon entrusted with the responsibility of being MCee of the show.
Tindi
Tindi is an actress with fun factory limited a comedy group which does regular comedy gigs. Previously, she was with Maisha Film Lab where she acted in various short films.
She currently hosts a radio show and is also a scriptwriter and story developer.

5 Mar: Episode 10
It's the battle of the radio hosts as Emmanuel Ssebakigye and Sande Bush take to the stage.
Emmanuel Ssebakigye
Emanuel discovered his acting talent in primary school, but wasn’t sure he could turn it into a career. He entered M-Net’s Stand up Uganda in 2009 and was placed fourth. Since then he’s been doing stand-up comedy professionally and even had a radio stint on Capital FM in Uganda.
In 2010 he landed a role on the TV series The Hostel as an extra and became involved with the production in season two and three.
Sande Bush
Sande has always had ambitions of making it big in comedy. He currently has a slot of Milele FM where he does his comedy in Swahili.
Sande is also passionate about music, and feels lucky to be in a career that combines both his passion and ambition.

27 Feb: Episode 9
The stage belongs to Anne Kansiime and Mendo Herbert this week.
Anne Kansiime
Anne started acting professionally just four years ago with Fun Factory where she did sketches and stand-up comedy on a weekly TV show. Currently she’s part of a talk show and her funny slot is called 'Minibuzz'.
Mendo Herbert
Mendo is a stand-up and sketch comedian, he is known in Uganda for doing impersonations of famous people like heads of state. In 2010 he was nominated as the ninth best man of the year, from a survey conducted by the media in Kampala. Mendo is currently shooting his comedy TV show.

Alex Muhangi
Alex Muhangi’s stand up career started in a bar where he was a waiter. Today, he has weekly theatre perfomances in that same bar. This producer/ sound engineer works a full time job at Fenon Entertainment and does his comedy work in the evenings.
John Kibet
Another comedian by night is John Kibet who’s an artist and painter during the day. He wants to merge his passions into one profession. John has exhibited at the National Museum in Kenya and has also done theatre performances.

13 Feb: Episode 7
St Freak and Kizito who are both television personalities go head to head in this week's episode.
St Freak
TV Presenter and events MC, St Freak’s first appearance was at Pablo Live in 2010. He says talking is one of his strengths and that landing a TV job was one of his career highlights.
Kizito Makanga
Ugandan born Kizito started Stand-up comedy in January 2009 as one of the top 20 contestants of Stand-up Uganda. He enjoys entertaining people and says that Comedy is his hobby. He is also part of the Crackers Comedy Club and currently a permanent guest comedian on Pablo Live, a weekly TV talk show on WBS TV.

'The Crackers' comedy club has sent two of their representatives to show case how stand-up comedy is really done in Kampala.
Cotilda
Twenty three year old Cotilda is a computer scientist by profession. He started doing standup comedy in 2009 and was part of the ‘The Crackers’ comedy group in Kampala.
She’s the first female stand-up comedienne in Uganda. Cotilda is inspired by her daily experiences as a woman and by the behavioral patterns of people around her. Cotilda looks up to powerful female comics like Ellen Degeneres, Wanda Sykes and Monique.
Cotilda’s ambitions don’t just stop at being a comedienne, she also hopes to get into TV presenting and acting.

30 Jan: Episode 5
This week's comedians, Patrick and Evans have worked hard at molding their craft and have become household names in comedy circles.
Patrick Idringi
Patrick aka Salvado comes from Uganda. This professional engineer realized he had funny bones after taking part in M-Net’s reality show, Stand Up Uganda – where he was first runner up. Since then, Patrick has MC’d a number of high profile events like Miss Uganda 2011, The Sean Kingston and Beenie Man concerts.
This director and founder of the only stand-up comedy outfit in Uganda, The Crackers Comedy- was nominated for the Young Achievers in Entertainment Award 2011.
Evans Bukuku
Evans Bukuku started performing comedy only in 2009, but has been a laughter factory since he was very young. After his stint on The Comedy Club Live in Mombasa in November 2010, he and few colleagues started Evans Bukuku’s Comdedy Club under the company Vuvuzela Entertainment. The outfit has been performing in Dar es Salaam on a monthly basis since December 2010 and is now venturing into the regions. Evans Bukuku’s brand of comedy combines observational, impersonation, and song-remixing with a tad of improvisation.
Since the Show’s establishment in December 2010, Evans Bukuku’s Comedy Club has performed 14 times to a gradually growing audience. So far the group have made some strides to capture the attention of international audiences when Evans Bukuku became the first Tanzanian to feature on M-Net’s reality show, The Comedy Club Live in Mombasa.
Evans is married and has an infant child and he gets his inspiration from daily life.

23 Jan: Episode 4
This week we feature Uganda's Daniel and Rwanda's Herve. Both no strangers to television screens, these two have earned their stripes.
Daniel Omora
No stranger to M-Net viewers, Daniel Omora was a second runner up on M-Net Africa’s ‘Stand Up Uganda’ in 2009. He is also the co-founder of a comedy group and is a regular on the Mic Check stand-up comedy show on Ugandan Television.
Daniel is an English major- graduate from Uganda’s Christian University and has done a lot of work on television including a TV commercial, a leading role on Africa Magic’s ‘The Hostel’ in 2011 and a stand up performance on M-Net Africa’s premium reality show ‘Big Brother Africa’ in 2010.
Herve Kimenyi
This actor/ stand-up comedian, started his career with a hip hop dance crew as a choreographer and dancer.
He later redirected his focus to film and theatre and was cast in a few internationally recognised films including 'Grey Matter' and 'Tideline'.
Herve is inspired by a lot of big screen actors like Danny Glover, whom he has met. His ambition as an artist is to create a viable art production and distribution system so that artists can benefit from their own creations.
Herve is the one the founders of ‘Comedy Knights in Rwanda’, which is the most attended show in Rwanda to date.

16 Jan: Episode 3
Besides comedy, Ojay keeps himself busy emceeing, rapping, acting, as a radio DJ, as a social worker, a youth activist and a concept developer.
Meet: Deo Ojambo:
Christened as Ojay, Deo holds a degree in Industrial and Fine art from Makerere University.
Born in the Tororo district in Uganda in 1986, he spent almost his entire school life moving from district to district pursuing his education until he was destined to end up in Kampala.
His comedic life blossomed when he joined a student drummer group at his freshman year on campus called T.L.T (Touching Lives with Talent ) in 2007 which opened a door for him as a radio comedian. His portrayal of "Deo the Indian catalyst" on the student airwaves, gave birth to the character "Sadip Kumal", who became a popular sketch and featured at many a social gig.
Besides comedy, Ojay keeps himself busy emceeing, rapping, acting, as a radio DJ, as a social worker, a youth activist and a concept developer.
Freshly graduated, he currently volunteers as a programme’s director at Makerere University's Prime Time students association (MUPSA).
