

The much-anticipated third season of Comedy Club: Live in Lagos is here and set to air on M-Net West on DStv in January 2012. Comedy Club: Live in Lagos is an M-Net Africa production that profiles comedians, and offers them a wider television platform to demonstrate their talent as stand-up comedians. The series features some of the hottest comedians in Africa, with its line-up including performers from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
Comedy Club: Live in Lagos, hosted by IK Osakioduwa of Studio 53 and Big Brother Africa, provides an hour of entertainment for the live venue audience as well as the viewer at home. After the comedians perform, they’re invited to sit down for an interview with IK. DStv audiences can also look forward to a live band performance by Qwela to entertain the audience.
Two comedians will perform during each episode - the first is usually an up-and-coming comedian while the other is a well-known, established comedian. Look out for performances by Nigeria’s Odogwu, Jafextra, Shola Sampson, Mandy, Koffi, Klint, Owen G, Big Mickey, Lepacious, Mc When, Bovi, Small Mummy, Emeka Smith, Cee…Y, Alarm Blow, Seyi Law, Akpororo, Frank the Don, Bow Joint, Funnybone and AY; DKB and Funnyface of Ghana; Sierra Leone’s Vamboi and Patrick Idringi of Uganda.

IK Osakioduwa
Host, Comedy Club: Live in Lagos.Charming and sexy, IK Osakioduwa is well known across the continent as host of the reality show Big Brother Africa.
This University of Lagos economics graduate began his broadcast career as the “Wild Child” on the Nigerian radio station Rhythm 93.7 FM, but it wasn’t long before the ever dynamic IK soon branched out into television as the presenter on M-Net’s flagship Afro-Chic lifestyle programme, Studio 53.
Although IK has also presented the Nigerian game show Temptation Nigeria and is currently presenting the stand-out stand-up series Comedy Club: Live In Lagos, he credits his role on Big Brother Africa as the opportunity that’s “done marvels for my career”.
He says, “BBA was the first show I’d done of this magnitude, it was amazing to be in 40-million homes across Africa all at once. At first it’s super intimidating, but you get used to it before the end of the season,” he admits modestly, and now with three seasons under his belt, keeps coming back for more!

Akporo
Akporo is presently a psychology student at Lagos State University, studying sociology. He started doing comedy 2005 and has since fused it with music. Akporo has featured in the Night of a Thousand Laughs, Rhythm Unplugged, Laugh and Jams, Stand Up Naija and Ay Live.
In addition, Akporo has his own radio show on Naija FM which he co-hosts with other comedians such as Alibaba, Jedi, Ay, Gordons, Basket Mouth and Wamilele
Bowjoint
Bowjoint has been a professional comedian for the past ten years. Also no stranger to our screens, he featured in the last season of Comedy Club: Live in Lagos.
Bowjoint has had stints on two comedy movies Mumu and Blackbirds. He’s also played the character Chidi in the sitcom Saint and the Silly.

Kenneth Kimuli
Kenneth aka Pablo is an undisputed king of Comedy. He was the winner of Stand Up Comedy: Uganda in 2009. Kenneth later cemented that win with his own comedy TV show, Pablo Live.
It’s because of this show that he was voted best television personality by the Buzz Teeniez awards in 2008 and 2009 consecutively. He was also voted best local actor of the year 2010 by the New Vision publication readers through an opinion poll.
Pablo started performing Stand Up comedy in 2005. He was invited by legendary film actor Robert Redford to the prestigious home of theatre, Sundance Theatre Lab, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, in 2007 where he had an opportunity to share stage with celebrated film and theatre practitioners.
Seyilaw
Seyilaw started comedy professionally in 2007 after he won AY’s Open Mic Comedy competition in 2006 as the first winner and also the winner in the Fanmilk Comedy competition in Lagos in 2007. He was under the tutelage of AY before he decided to stand on his own.
In 2008, he became the first Nigerian comedian to be awarded the Youth Ambassador for Peace by the UN affiliated Universal Peace Federation and Youth Federation for World Peace and the merit award by National Youth Council of Nigeria.
Later that year, he won his first award in comedy as the Best New Generation Comedian from Titbits Communication. Seyilaw has performed in almost all the major shows held in Nigeria from 2008 to date.

Cee..Y!
This Arts Theatre graduate is also a singer and dancer who plays the drums professionally. Cee..Y! has performed on big comedy stages such as The Comedy Club: Live in Lagos S1, The Night of a Thousand Laughs and Holy Lafta.
Cee...Y! is C.E.O of 10Q promotions, the company responsible for the comedy show, Standin'Out.
Allam Bloo
Allam Bloo is a multi-talented entertainer. He is an actor, singer, song writer and comedian. With a career spanning several decades, Allam Bloo is arguably one of the only links between the old school and the new school comedians in Nigeria.
Many will remember him from the Charley Boy Show, he's also hosted his own shows on the NTA channel 5, MBI, Galaxy and MITV. Allam has acted in several movies namely Mean Girls and The Stolen Child.

Small Mummy
This lady from Benin-City goes by the stage name MC Small Mummy. She’s currently a content developer, advert manager and the presenter of Laff unltd and Believe’t TV shows on DSTV Channel 345 Kingdom Africa.
Small Mummy likes traveling, meeting people and cooking.
Emeka Smith
Emeka has performed in most of the elite shows in Nigeria which includes rythm unplugged, night of a thousand laughs, AY live, crack ya ribs and M-Net’s Comedy Club Live in Mombasa. Recently, she was invited as a special guest comedian for the Nigerian entertainment awards in New York City. Emeka’s also won a couple of Youth Awards for her contribution in the entertainment industry.

13 Feb: Episode 7
This week's comedians are both from Lagos. Mc When owns his own company and Bovi is an actor, writer and poet.
Mc When
Mc When started his career in comedy in 2005 and his first show was in a church. His name is derived from his company name W.H.EN (What Happen Entertainment)
Bovi Ugboma
Bovi is an actor, writer, comedian and poet. He studied theatre arts at Delta State University Abraka and graduated in 2002. In September 2006, he started work on his first sitcom, Extended Family. He wrote, produced and starred in the sitcom which hit the airwaves in April 2007 on Africa Magic.
Bovi has also performed at the famous Blues Room comedy club in Sandton, South Africa and the Indigo, O2 arena. Currently he has a new sitcom titled The Bovi Ugboma Show (T-bus) and he's working on yet another comedy series.

6 Feb: Episode 6
This week, we welcome our first female comedienne on to the stage. Tune in to see how she holds her own alongside her male counterparts!
Big Mickey
Big Mickey hails from Oto-iyede, a well-known town in Delta State. The entertainment bug bit him when he was at Delta State University. Although he was enrolled for a Bsc degree in Mathematics, he took up drama during his spare time. Hejoined the Campus Theater production and later ventured into stand-up comedy. His small frame made him easily recognisable (as the small funny guy) and put him on the spotlight! Today, he is a celebrated performer.
Lepascious
In a world where slim is the fad, Bose Ogunboye makes fat sound cool. She rocked hearts of comedy lovers in Accra at the Laugh and Rock show, and made a name for herself in this male dominated profession. A trained lawyer, Lepascious has been doing stand-up comedy since her undergraduate days at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. While no longer practising as a solicitor, she takes to the stage in the vibrant Nigerian comedy scene alongside her male colleagues like Basketmouth, Gordons, Malekem, and so many others.

30 Jan: Episode 5
The comedy stage in Lagos hots up with this week's acts, Ghana's Funny Face and Lagos' Owen Gee.
Funny Face
Benson Ohene-Oduro Boateng, known in showbiz as Funny Face, is currently Ghana’s hottest comedian and “a very serious, business-minded person.” This stand-up comedian/actor regards the support of his fans, especially the women, as next to the providence of his mother and GOD and mother, as far as his success is concerned.
Funny Face is currently the lead character in the television series, Chorkor Trotro. In April 2011 he teamed up with ace Ghanaian Hiplife star, Castro to produce the song, Banana Sweet and it shot up to number instantly. He’s also featured in videos for Ghana’s most talented rap star Sarkodie and is currently the KING of Ghana’s newly discovered dance style, ‘Azonto’
Funny face comes from a very humble background and has seen poverty in its worst form. His encounter with his current manager, George Quaye has been a major turning point. George gave him his first and biggest comedy platform, the night of 1010 laughs series. Funny face rocked the show so well he’s featured on all other subsequent editions.
He’s a brand icon for Ghana’s national oil firm, the Ghana Oil Company limited.
Owen Gee
Owen Gee aka The Krazy Comedian was born in Lagos State, Nigeria to a family of talented entertainers. He started his dancing career when he was two years old. He was a member of the singing group, Dynamic Five when he was ten years old and made his first appearance on television when he was 12 years old in a dance competition which he won.
Later on, resuming his tertiary education to study Mathematics and Statistics he found himself as a member of the rap group ‘Ur Uncle’s from the Psychiatric Hospital’.
Owen’s always wanted a career in music, this was inspired by artistes like Osita Osadebe, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Sisqo, R.kelly, LL Cool J
He has a few movies under his belt such as The Foolish Foolishness Fool and Bursting Zone. He has also released a comic music album in addition to his television show, My Krazy World, where he plays multiple characters. A very familiar face on M-Net screens, Owen G tried his luck on The Comedy Club Live in Lagos season 1, 2 and 3!

Comedy Club host, IK, had the pleasure of introducing two new acts - Vamboi and Klint da Drunk.
More about Vamboi:
Vamboi aka Ernest Brewah was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone in 1968.
Married with two children, Vamboi has 30 years of drama experience to his name and has worked for many years with the Kailondo Theatre group.
He only recently exchanged drama for comedy, and so popular was his act with the Bintumani Players, he was asked to take it to television and so the Vamboi-character was born.
He was named a Peace Ambassador in 1998 when he performed for the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in Sierra Leone.
Klint da Drunk:
Afamefuna Klint Igwemba is popularly known as ‘Klint da Drunk’, and hails from Agukwu-Nri in Anocha LGA, Anambra State.
He graduated with a B.A in Fine and Applied Arts at the Institute of Management and technology (IMT), Enugu. Nigeria.
From his secondary school days, it was known by his classmates and all that cared to know him, as a very funny person who liked seeing smiles on people’s faces.
Kling was discovered as an act by Opa Williams in Night of a Thousand Laffs, through the help of Yibo Koko, in Port Harcourt, and has since become a household name in the comedy industry in Nigeria. Other successful ventures he’s been involved in, include various Nigerian movies like The Destroyers, Chain Reaction, Lost Kingdom, My House Help and Men on the Run.
