As one of the most successful singers of all time, Mariah Carey has earned the reputation of being quite a diva, but Nicki Minaj gives her a run for her money. The title of American Idol judge may be going straight to Nicki’s head after she has recently displayed examples of extreme diva tendencies on the show. Nicki Minaj told American Idol viewers that she would leave the show if her favourite contestant, Curtis Finch Jr, was voted off. Unfortunately, Curtis became the first finalist of season 12 to be voted off through viewer votes.

Everyone was stunned to see that Nicki’s threats were not made in vain when she got up and left her seat when it was announced that Curtis was going home.

Randy Jackson will abandon his post at American Idol.

The record producer-and-entrepreneur announced on Thursday that he would not be taking his seat at the judging panel next season.

Randy, 56, is the only original judge remaining after appearing on the very first season of the show alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul back in 2002.

“Yo! Yo! Yo!” he said in a statement released by his publicist.

“To put all of the speculation to rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.

“It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

Randy was referring to speculation surrounding the future of the current crop of judges who include Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban.

The TV talent show has suffered a dismal decline in ratings this season with figures down 20 per cent year on year, according to USA Today.

Radar recently reported that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is planning a complete overhaul of the current judging panel.

Apparently he is hoping to replace the existing judges with a “dream team” consisting of Justin Bieber, Pink, Selena Gomez and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

“It’s been a lacklustre season for Idol and everyone involved with the show is well aware of it so that’s why producers are frantically working on lining up big name stars for season 14,” a source told the website.

“There’s more drama going on behind the scenes of the show than on the stage, and that’s why there’s a major overhaul in the works.”

Rumours have swirled that the Idol producers hatched a plan to uproot Carey from her judging post and replace her with more popular former judge Jennifer Lopez.

Minaj and Carey have also butted heads on numerous occasions, both on air and off.

Wake up early and watch the American Idol final two battle it out live on Thursday 16 May at 03:00 and then tune in again on Friday, 17 May at 3:00 to catch the results show, only on M-Net.

You can also watch the build up to the final on Saturday 18 May at 17:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday 19 May at 15:55 you can catch the results show.

But not that much is known about his private life. In fact, the star keeps his life so far from the prying eye of the media that US Weekly recently reported that he and his fiancée Shauna Robertson got married in 2012 already.

However, the Keeping the Faith actor hasn’t confirmed nor disputed the claims.

Lady Gaga is said to be so “obsessed” with Michael Jackson that she wants to purchase the private theme park that served as his home

The late King of Pop passed away from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

Michael spent countless amounts of time at his Neverland Ranch home and amusement park in California.

Lady Gaga reportedly reveres Michael and would be elated to possess the late star’s former abode.

“Lady Gaga is obsessed with Michael,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.

“She’s become good friends with his sister LaToya and would love more than anything else to restore Neverland to its original state.

“His kids are all desperate to hold on to their childhood home so they can decide what they want to do with it properly when they’ve grown up.

“Gaga would love to help with the financial costs by buying a share.”

Ben Affleck doesn’t want people to “tune out” from world issues.

The Argo director was awarded with the Cinema for Peace Humanitarian Award by The Cinema for Peace Foundation last week.

Ben founded charity the Eastern Congo Initiative in 2010 and has visited the war torn region several times since.

His non-profit organisation supports several Congolese charities that are committed to rebuilding the region destabilised by militant rebels.

Ben is happy to use his fame to call attention to these tragic matters.

“My cause, the Eastern Congo Initiative, is about the place in the world, which is in central Africa, that’s probably suffering the most,” he told ET Online.

“It’s devastated by war and hunger and preventable disease. They’ve had over three million people die over the past 15 years.

“People kind of want to tune out from that, and so I’m trying to use the power of cinema and the media to have folks tune in.”

The filmmaker says he also wants to use his artistic talents to bring communities in touch with one another.

“[For Argo], while I don’t want to make obvious messages, I do want to give [audiences] a sense of the grander connectivity between people…people who are all trying to live their lives and figure out how to work and live together,” Ben explained.

“It’s about storytelling. Storytelling saves lives, storytelling changes the world. We tell stories to our family members and those who are intimate with us.

That’s how we communicate who we are and express our souls. Storytelling is a powerful thing.”
